MARQUETTE, Mich. (WLUC) - The YMCA in Marquette County has kicked off their annual campaign. The campaign goal this year is to raise $120,000.
The campaign helps the 'Y' with offering scholarships to members of the community who need financial assistance with getting a membership or taking various programs and classes.
All of the money raised during the campaign goes to the scholarships.
"It's for scholarships, nobody is turned away from the YMCA for inability to pay, so we have at least 30 percent of our members on scholarship, and so the annual campaign, which we run for the next three months, is how we generate that revenue so that everybody can come to the YMCA," said YMCA Marquette County Fund Development Chair, Michele Butler.
In 2019 more than 2,800 YMCA members received financial assistance totaling more than $108,000.
