Workshop helps up-and-coming entrepreneurs

MARQUETTE, Mich. (WLUC) - Starting a business can be challenging, especially if you don't have proper guidance. But there are people who want to help.

INVENT@NMU collaborated with Northern Michigan University’s College of Business earlier Thursday evening to present a Business Budget Basics Workshop.

It was developed by four undergraduate professional accounting students.

These students apply what they learn in the classroom to real work experiences to help the community.

"We're hoping with this workshop is that we can create a series of additional workshops in the future. We'd like to continue this series based on community need, using other expertise from the College of Business and our students,” said Stacy Boyer-Davis, who is the Assistant Professor of Accounting at Northern Michigan University.

Organizers hope people will walk away feeling fulfilled after Thursday’s event.
