MARQUETTE, Mich. (WLUC) - The Wooden Nickel hosted the 5th annual Charity Motorcycle Ride and Pig Roast to benefit the Beacon House Saturday.
Riders started the day with a scenic three hour loop around the Upper Peninsula, finishing back at the Wooden Nickel in Marquette for a delicious pig roast.
Everyone enjoyed live music, 50/50 raffles, cold drinks and of course, all-you-can-eat perfectly prepared pulled pork sandwiches with all the trimmings.
Amanda Noordyke, General Manager at the Wooden Nickel says all proceeds from the Pig Roast including the entry fee for riders go to the Beacon House. 10% of all bar sales also go straight to the Beacon House to further their mission of constructing a new facility.
“We're a small staff here and we all sat down and talked about what charity would deserve this. And the Beacon House definitely does. I know they’re also raising funding for their new building and a new location which is something that will help Marquette,” Noordyke announced.
Noordyke adds patrons and staff at the Wooden Nickel have raised thousands of dollars for the Beacon House over the past five years with this annual one-day event.
