UPDATE: Grand Rapids woman pleads not guilty to OWI deadly accident in Mackinac County

CLARK TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WLUC) - UPDATE: Friday, June 21, 1:35 p.m.
Logan Smith of Grand Rapids, Michigan, entered a plea of not guilty to one count of operating while intoxicated causing death.

The case took place on Thursday, June 21 in a Mackinac County courtroom.

The charges stem from a deadly September 2018 car crash in which Zackeri Meingin was killed.

Michigan State Police St. Ignace Post has released the name of the woman who was arrested after a seven-month long investigation into a September 2018 fatal traffic crash in Mackinac County.

The Mackinac County Prosecutor’s office charged Logan Smith, 25, of Grand Rapids, with one count of operating while intoxicated causing death.

Smith was arraigned Monday morning in Mackinac County court.

According to original MSP release, the traffic crash claimed the life of Zackeri Meingin, of Cedarville.

In the early morning hours of Sept. 1, 2018, troopers responded to a report of a single vehicle crash on 3 Mile Road, near Nye Road, in Clark Township in Mackinac County. Meingin was a passenger in the vehicle, police say.

A woman has been arrested after a seven-month long investigation into a September 2018 fatal traffic crash in Mackinac County.

Troopers from the Michigan State Police (MSP) St. Ignace Post have arrested a 25-year-old woman on the charge of operating while intoxicated causing death.

According to MSP, the traffic crash claimed the life of Zackeri Meingin of Cedarville.

In the early morning hours of Sept. 1, 2018, troopers responded to a report of a single vehicle crash on 3 Mile Road, near Nye Road, in Clark Township in Mackinac County. Meingin was a passenger in the vehicle, police say.

MSP said the results of the seven-month long investigation prompted the Mackinac County Prosecutor to charge the driver.

The woman’s name is being withheld pending her arraignment.
