UPDATE: Name released of woman arrested for OWI causing death for September 2018 crash

CLARK TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WLUC) - UPDATE: Monday, April 22, 2:02 p.m.
Michigan State Police St. Ignace Post has released the name of the woman who was arrested after a seven-month long investigation into a September 2018 fatal traffic crash in Mackinac County.

The Mackinac County Prosecutor’s office charged Logan Smith, 25, of Grand Rapids, with one count of operating while intoxicated causing death.

Smith was arraigned Monday morning in Mackinac County court.

According to original MSP release, the traffic crash claimed the life of Zackeri Meingin, of Cedarville.

In the early morning hours of Sept. 1, 2018, troopers responded to a report of a single vehicle crash on 3 Mile Road, near Nye Road, in Clark Township in Mackinac County. Meingin was a passenger in the vehicle, police say.

A woman has been arrested after a seven-month long investigation into a September 2018 fatal traffic crash in Mackinac County.

Troopers from the Michigan State Police (MSP) St. Ignace Post have arrested a 25-year-old woman on the charge of operating while intoxicated causing death.

According to MSP, the traffic crash claimed the life of Zackeri Meingin of Cedarville.

In the early morning hours of Sept. 1, 2018, troopers responded to a report of a single vehicle crash on 3 Mile Road, near Nye Road, in Clark Township in Mackinac County. Meingin was a passenger in the vehicle, police say.

MSP said the results of the seven-month long investigation prompted the Mackinac County Prosecutor to charge the driver.

The woman’s name is being withheld pending her arraignment.
