MARQUETTE, Mich. (WLUC) - It's just under a month until governor-elect Gretchen Whitmer takes office, and her team is hard at work planning the transition. She's even getting some help from the U.P. Amy Clickner, CEO of the Lake Superior Community Partnership is a member of the Whitmer team's advisory committee for the economic development corporation. In this role, Clickner has spoken with colleagues across the U.P. on issues like mining, manufacturing and more. She's gauging their reaction about the department, and what should be changed. Clickner previously filled this role during the Snyder transition, and she's glad to help out again.

“I think anytime you start out by asking people their thoughts, you're building a good relationship, and a good foundation,” said Clickner. “So I think what this allows us to do with a transition advisory team is say and talk about what's important to the Upper Peninsula. That bodes well for working with someone in the future.”

The committees will be turning in their reports soon. At that point Whitmer will announce her choices for department heads. She'll be sworn in January 1, 2019.
