Whiteout conditions Monday in western Gogebic County

BESSEMER, Mich. (WLUC) - Just before noon Monday, authorities warn that travel is not advised in the Ironwood to Wakefield area.

According to the Gogebic County Sheriff's Office, lake effect snow is piling up quickly. All roadways are snow covered and slippery with visibility near zero.

Authorities say officers have been responding to multiple car accidents, some with injury.

Gogebic County is under a Winter Storm Warning until 9:00 a.m. Tuesday, with additional snow accumulations of 6 to 14 inches possible. The highest snowfall amounts are expected within the western half of the county.
