WHITE PINE, Mich. (WLUC) - Crews are working to clean up the White Pine Recreation Building after it collapsed overnight.
Carp Lake Township officials said when they came to work Friday morning, they found the building collapsed.
It is believed that ice buildup on the roof was the cause of the collapse.
The building was used in the winter for free hockey and ice skating for kids in the community. In the summer it was used for the 4th of July celebration.
Township officials say the building was insured and they hope to begin construction soon.
"We definitely want to rebuild so that it is still available for people in the community put possibly more like an outdoor where they can have picnics in the summer, stuff like that, the gatherings, and then skating in the winter," said Cynthia Walworth, Carp River Township Treasurer.
It is unknown when construction on the new outdoor structure will begin.
