IRON RIVER, Mich. (WLUC) - An upcoming election will be taking place in Iron County on August 6.
There will be 8 proposals regarding different millages, including a millage for West Iron District Library funding.
The library's current 5-year millage will be up this December, and they are seeking a 0.25 increase from the previous millage which was at 1.50.
The millage goes towards expenses for books, CDs, operating costs and personnel. The current millage has supported more than 250 programs in the last year. About 87 percent of the library's funding is thanks to the millage.
"We definitely hope for their support. We love serving our patrons. We love providing everything we can for them and we would love to continue doing what we do,” said West Iron District Library Assistant Director and program Director, Stephanie Swenski.
This millage would support the library for the next 5 years.
