IRON RIVER, Mich. (WLUC) - The Rainbow Run 5K was held in Iron River on Friday, with all proceeds benefiting Saturday's Relay for Life.
Students from West Iron County Schools were encouraged to raise money for the event.
Friday was the last day of school for the students, and West Iron County Schools Health and Wellness Coordinator Denise Maloney says that the students look forward to the day each year.
"We have 5K runners, we have pre-schoolers, we have high school and middle-schoolers, we have grandmas and grandpas, we have babies in strollers," says Maloney. "So that's what I really love, is just getting our school family and our community out exercising together and supporting a wonderful cause."
Maloney says about 800 people come to support the event each year.
