It was great weekend weather for the West Branch Sportsmen’s Club's 18th Annual Predator Hunt.

Hunters have been out since Thursday night, many hunting by light of the full moon for predators like coyotes and foxes. Hunters returned on Sunday to have their bounties weighed.

The club says they were the first in the U.P. to start a predator hunt, and they continue it every year to help the local game population.

“Throughout the year, every one of these coyotes will take down a couple of deer, so when we take this many out of the woods, it's definitely going to help the deer population, as well as rabbits and other game,” said Bill Zintman, president of the West Branch Sportsmen’s Club.

Registration was only $35 and prizes for largest bounty ranged from $100-$800.
