MARQUETTE, Mich. (WLUC) - One good way to beat the winter blues is to get outside.
This Sunday and every Sunday through February, Marquette Mountain is the ideal place to do just that.
Starting at noon, the Mountain in collaboration with Superior Snow Adventures hosts NASTAR public ski racing.
For $10, skiers of all ages and skill levels can enjoy unlimited timed runs on Snowfield with results posted online at NASTAR.
Some skiers aren’t in any hurry despite being timed.
However, for skiers like father and son team Mike and Connor Dunn, these racing days add an element of friendly competition, which tends to lead to improved performance.
"It’s harder definitely because it's hard to not be late and miss a gate. When you're just free skiing you don't have to get anywhere. You can just go wherever you want,” Connor declared after his first run.
“He says it wasn't a good run but it was a pretty good time and he already won our friendly little wager,” Connor’s Father, Mike stated.
After each run, skiers are free to brag to those that will listen before riding the lift back to the top to go it all over again.
