ESCANABA, Mich. (WLUC) - As the TV6 Canathon wraps up, there are stories across the U.P. of groups that have gone above and beyond in their collection efforts.
One such story is the Webster Kindergarten center in Escanaba. Last year, the school collected a little more than 1,000 items for the Canathon. This year the collection already has more than 1,500 items.
School officials say they really worked on getting the students to understand the meaning behind the TV6 Canathon.
"Oh, they have and as you can tell, they are probably pretty persistent and their families obviously back them up. So our kids have been pumped, they have been asking and they're so proud to show what they have brought, so it's just been a wonderful thing for our school to help the community and for then to know what they're doing," said Health Care Aide, Gypsia Flath.
