Vehicle starts on fire after hitting tree on M-64 near Lake Gogebic; extent of injuries unknown

The Gogebic County Sheriff's Office is investigating a single vehicle accident reported at 4:40 a.m. Monday, July 16.

Injuries were reported in the accident that happened on M-64 near Bingham Bay on Lake Gogebic. A vehicle traveling south on M-64 lost control, left the roadway and struck a tree, which caused the vehicle to start on fire.

A passerby was able to assist the occupants in exiting the vehicle before the vehicle was completely consumed by flames.

28-year-old Joshua Robinson of Core, West Virginia, and 29-year-old Donna Kossman of White Pine, were both transported by ambulance to Aspirus Ironwood Hospital. The extent of their injuries was unknown at the time of posting.

The Gogebic County Sheriff's Office was assisted at the scene by Lake Gogebic Fire, Marenisco Township Fire Department, Marenisco Police Department, and Marenisco and Beacon Ambulance.
