VA2K walk promotes employee health, help for homeless veterans

IRON MOUNTAIN, Mich. (WLUC) - Employees and community members gathered at the Oscar G. Johnson medical facility in Iron Mountain on Wednesday for the "VA2k” walk. The 2K walk is held at VA facilities all over the nation.

The goal is to raise awareness for employee health, as well as raise money and collect donations for homeless veterans.

Other events at the walk included Tai-Chi classes, healthy snacks and nutrition presentations, and stress management sessions.

Organizers say the event is always a community success.

"We've had great community support. Especially this year, we've had the Kingsford schools as well as Iron Mountain schools participating. They've also walked the event with us today," said VA2K Committee Member, Jeana Klingelhutz.

Organizers add that the students helped raise hundreds of dollars for the event this year.
