Iron Mountain's Oscar G Johnson VA Medical Center has recently introduced a new technology to help veterans keep track of their appointments.

Vet Text is a system that will send veterans text messages reminding them of their appointments.

The texts include a link to their healthy vet site allowing patients to confirm, cancel or reschedule their appointments.

The system has been in place since March 29th and the hospital is says it's already been beneficial

"Pretty much the last day in March we started and Veterans are already using and canceling appointments and letting us know that their plans have changed so we can reschedule another veteran in that appointment," Nicole Kleist, Access Coordinator for the Center, told TV6 News.

All veterans are automatically enrolled but have the option of opting out after their first message.
