GWINN, Mich. (WLUC) - Representatives from the VA medical center in Iron Mountain were in Gwinn this Wednesday afternoon. They were holding an informational town hall meeting with local veterans.

Speakers had a short presentation that highlighted the new VA community care program and urgent care benefits as well as other services. Those giving the presentation hope veterans who aren't using the iron mountain VA consider it as an option.

"We know veterans and we specialize in serving veterans so obviously we'd like for veterans to come and choose us and we share some of the data from surveys that we collect from veterans and about 92 percent of the veterans that receive care in our healthcare system say that they trust trust the Iron Mountain VA with their care," said Veterans Experience Officer, Tim Ellison.

Town hall meetings will also be held Thursday September 12 in Ishpeming at 10 a.m. and then in Iron River at 1:30 p.m central time. The Iron River town hall is also part of a veterans health fair being held from 12-4 p.m. at the Windsor Center.
