Upper Peninsula robotics team prepares for 'World Championship'

HARRIS, Mich. (WLUC) - The First Robotics World Championship is being held in Detroit this week, and the team from Bark River Harris High School is gearing up to compete. Teams have to design, build, program, and drive a robot around a set up area. The goal is for the robot to perform tasks like climbing or moving objects. The team had to coordinate a fundraiser to pay for the trip. In the past week, they've raised more than $17,000.

“Our sponsors have been a big help, and our community really supports us which is great,” said Maddie Mosher, a senior on the team. “Our school has been awesome, they back us 100%. EMP has been a really big help too, they’ve helped out a lot.”

The competition runs from Wednesday through Saturday. Stephenson, Ontonagon, and Gladstone will also have teams competing.
