MARQUETTE, Mich. (WLUC) - The Twitter accounts for Wisconsin Badger Football and the Upper Peninsula have been having some fun with Twitter users in relation to Wisconsin's football dominance against Michigan teams so far this season.

Saturday, the Michigan State Spartans lost to the UW Badgers, 0 to 38 respectively.

After the loss, the @BadgerFootball Twitter account joked about recent game scores, and asked the @UpperPeninsula Twitter account for the deed to the U.P.

This was a play on the Toledo War outcome, where Michigan received the Upper Peninsula and Ohio got the Toledo Strip.

The @UpperPeninsula Twitter account, agreeing with the Badgers, jokingly obliged, saying "It's official, I belong to Wisconsin now" and changed the page name to the "Upper Peninsula of Wisconsin."

After doing so, they added additional tweets, saying such things as, Northern Michigan University becoming Northern Wisconsin University and Michigan Tech becoming Wisconsin Tech. The U.P. account also said cheese pasties are now a thing and reminded Yoopers that in becoming part of Wisconsin, recreational marijuana was again illegal.

The account also referred back to the July Mountain Dew 'DEWnited States' label controversy.

It was all in good fun, but the account also joked with the two states' governors, Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer and Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers, asking if Monday's Green Bay Packers and Detroit Lions NFL game was a deciding factor.

I guess we'll have to see the outcome after the game.
