NEGAUNEE, Mich. (WLUC) - What will soon be the newest brewery in Negaunee held an open house Friday afternoon. The Upper Peninsula Brewing Company is currently under construction. The Owner, Ryan Engemann, is renovating two buildings for the new venture on Rail Street.

Friday, as part of Pioneer Days, Engemann is letting folks check out the future brewery and restaurant. He says he hopes it can be a spot that can help bring the community together over good beer and good food.

"Our goal is to be a community space, a safe place for people to gather here in Negaunee to really build up the local community, and we think a brew pub is a great opportunity to do that," said Engman. "Great beer, great food and a safe community space, something really nice."

There will be another open houses for the Upper Peninsula Brewing Company Saturday July 13 at 7 p.m. There's still plenty of work to be done on the buildings and no firm opening date is set yet.
