Gladstone will once again be the site of the U.S. Log Rolling Open.
Next Thursday, July 4, top log rollers from around the nation will be competing. Beginning at 11 a.m., right after Gladstone’s parade, the competition will kick off at the island in Van Cleve Park.
Gladstone has a rich tradition of log rolling, hosting a few world championships in the 1930s and 1940s, and again in 1999.
“There's a lot of exciting action to be seen,” said co-director and competitor Katie Burke. “You're seeing the best of the best here. We have multiple world champions, the first three ranked women on the women's side are all former champions.”
Everyone is welcome to attend, and there is no cost for admission.
