HOUGHTON, Mich. (WLUC) - Upper Peninsula Solar Technical Assistance Resource Team, or UPSTART, is inviting Baraga residents to give their feedback.
UPSTART asks for community input on a proposed community solar energy project. Residents who rely on Village of Baraga utilities are particularly invited. Economic and environmental benefits are not the only potential up sides of the project.
"Having the community increase pride, increase local ownership of their local energy systems to provide a stable energy source for the future, but really provide them the opportunity to be forward progress and a leader in the region for having something like this," said PhD Environmental Energy Policy student Emily Prehoda.
The meeting is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Thursday, April 12 in the Baraga Area Schools Library. The event includes free food and a drawing for a $300 energy efficient appliance.
