ESCANABA, Mich. (WLUC) - The Michigan Public Service Commission (MPSC) held an information session Friday about UPPCO's future plans. In February UPPCO filed an integrated resource plan with the MPSC.
That application is currently under review by the MPSC. Part of the process includes holding meetings like the one on Friday at Bay College in Escanaba. The current Chair of the MPSC says it's all about looking at long-term power solutions.
"Looking at existing supplies of generation such as hydroelectric, they're proposing to be able to increase the ability of those facilities, new solar generation, increasing investments in energy efficiency," said MPSC Chair, Sally Talberg. "The whole point of it is to try and figure out what is most cost effective to ensure reliable supply for the long-term."
The MPSC is expected to have an initial ruling on the integrated resource plan in December. Following that there will be a 60-day-period to allow for changes to the plan.
