NEGAUNEE, Mich. (WLUC) - If you've been putting off getting rid of that old air conditioning unit or refrigerator, UPPCO will take your old appliance and give you a break on your energy bill.
The Upper Peninsula Power Company is holding a recycling event in Negaunee, similar to one previously held in Sands Township.
Customers can save up to $150 in rebates by bringing in old appliances.
You can get $10 for air conditioners and dehumidifiers, and $50 for refrigerators and freezers.
UPPCO representatives say this is a great way to get rid of old junk while helping the environment.
"When you bring them to the recycling center as a part of our program, not only will you be paid a rebate, but it keeps the materials out of the landfills. We are able to recycle them in an environmental manner," said Vice President of Business Development, Brett French.
The next recycling event will be held at Negaunee Iron and Metal on June 14 and 15, with another event being held in Houghton in July.
