MARQUETTE, Mich. (WLUC) - The Upper Peninsula Animal Welfare Shelter, or UPAWS, held their annual golf fundraiser Friday afternoon. It's called Tee Up for Tails, at the Marquette Golf Club's Heritage Course.
This year they had the most teams ever sign up for the event. The event included 18 holes of golf, a 50/50 raffle and a hole-in-one chance from Fox Motors.
"We have a lot of people that get teams together, but it's the businesses that help support us year to year. We've got platinum partners that support all our fundraisers, we have five of them, always looking for more," said UPAWS Organizer, Karen Rhodes. "Some of the businesses come back year after year, and help us out and we couldn't do an event like this without the help and support of local businesses."
This is the 22nd year for the Tee Up for Tails fundraiser. It helps UPAWS bring in thousands of dollars each year.
