UPAWS' Strut Your Mutt fundraiser takes over Lower Harbor Park Saturday morning

MARQUETTE, Mich. (WLUC) - The UPAWS Strut Your Mutt fundraiser takes over Mattson Lower Harbor in Marquette Saturday morning.

Ann Brownell, the chair for Strut Your Mutt, says the money raised goes toward their operations budget-- keeping the lights on, and getting animals into loving homes. It is separate from UPAWS' capital campaign toward building their new facility in Sands Township, but you can learn more about that at Strut Your Mutt.

Brownell says there will be free food for humans, and some perks for pets too. She says to bring cash to pay for things like nail trimmings and other cool things from a variety of pet vendors. There will be contests and the crowning of the "leader of the pack," who will kick off the Strut along the lakeshore.

The fun begins at 9 a.m. Register the day of or online beforehand. It's just $20 for adults, and $10 for kids 12 and under. The walk starts at 10 a.m. and is optional. The event wraps up at noon.
