HANCOCK, Mich. (WLUC) - The U.P. Health System Portage Hospital received an 'A' grade for their hospital's safety.

This is the third 'A' grade the hospital has received in a row from the Leapfrog Hospital Survey. Leapfrog is a non-profit organization that grades hospitals twice a year on patient safety and quality.

The staff at the U.P. Health System Portage campus has worked hard to ensure a high standard of care.

"High quality care is a part of our culture here at U.P. Health System Portage. It's part of our everyday routine, and receiving this third A in a row just proves that we have ongoing commitment to high quality patient care here," said Casey Baird, Director of Quality and Infection prevention at U.P. Health System Portage.

The hospital was also recently announced as a Duke Life Point National Quality Affiliate for their efforts in high quality health care.
