UPDATE: Victim identified in fatal Negaunee crash

NEGAUNEE, Mich. (WLUC) - UPDATE 8:55 p.m. Monday:

Police say, William E. Tull, 29, of N. Pioneer Ave. in Negaunee died in the crash. Tull was driving the 2012 Chevrolet Impala.

The driver of the van was Gerald W. Kippola, 69, of Ishpeming.

UPDATE at 2:00 a.m. Monday:

A 29-year-old Negaunee man was killed in a crash Sunday afternoon on County Road.

The Negaunee City Police Department says officers were called at 3:54 p.m. Sunday to the report of a head-on collision in the 700 block of County Rd. in Negaunee.

A 1997 Ford E-350 full-size van, driven by a 69-year-old Ishpeming man was eastbound on County Rd. when he crashed head-on with a westbound 2012 Chevy Impala driven by a 29-year-old Negaunee man.

Police say the driver of the van was transported by UPHS-Bell EMS to UPHS-Marquette for treatment of injuries that were not life-threatening.

The 29-year-old man was extricated from the Impala by the Negaunee City Fire Department and was evaluated by UPHS-Bell EMS.

He was pronounced dead at the scene by doctors from UPHS.

Crash investigators from the Marquette County Sheriff’s Office were requested and assisted on scene. Troopers form the Michigan State Police Negaunee Post assisted in notifying the victim’s family.

The Negaunee City Fire Department, UPHS-Bell EMS and the Ishpeming City Police Department also assisted at the scene.

The crash remains under investigation. No names or other information have been released at this time.



A two vehicle accident took place earlier Sunday afternoon in Negaunee.

Law enforcement responded to County Road near Shelly's Floral Boutique, where a box truck and a Chevy Impala collided.

The Marquette County Police, Negaunee City Police, Negaunee Fire Department and UP Health System were on the scene.

We do not know if there are any injuries at this time. The crash still remains under investigation.
