Lansing man accused of killing a man in a Trout Lake cabin set for jury trial

CHIPPEWA COUNTY, Mich. (WLUC) - A Lansing man accused of killing someone in Chippewa County is set to go to jury trial.

34-year-old Aaron Lee Roberts is charged with homicide-manslaughter-statutory short form, and felony firearms weapons. The charges would be served consecutively.

On August 11, around 4 PM, Michigan State Police Troopers from the Sault Ste. Marie Post responded to reports of a shooting at a rental cabin in Trout Lake on OJ Miller Road.

According to the police report, troopers arrived on scene and spoke to Roberts who told officers, “I am the shooter.” Troopers located a deceased man inside the cabin and medical personnel confirmed the death a few minutes later. The report said Robert admitted to investigators that he had shot the deceased man.

The victim’s name was never released.

Robert’s trial is scheduled for May 8, 9, and 10.
