Three more road projects begin in Marquette Monday

MARQUETTE, Mich. (WLUC) - Three more road construction projects are set to begin in the city of Marquette on Monday, June 17.

Front Street
Beginning at 7 a.m. on Monday, Front Street between Ohio Street and Hewitt Avenue will be closed to through traffic for reconstruction work. This project is expected to last four weeks.

The Front Street work will detour traffic to Ohio Street, Third Street and Prospect Street. The public is advised to use caution when traveling through this area and to be alert for construction, detour and advisory signing.

Oberstar, Inc. is the general contractor for this project.

Lakeshore Boulevard

Lakeshore Boulevard will be closed to through traffic on Monday, between East Michigan Street and East Arch Street, to allow for water and sewer utility work. The road closure will begin at 8 a.m. and is expected to last until 6 p.m.

Access to businesses and residences within the closure area will be maintained. Traffic will be detoured around the road closure by means of Arch Street, Spruce Street and Hewitt Avenue.

The public is advised to use caution when traveling through this area and to be alert for construction and advisory signing.

Lynn Street

Beginning at 7 a.m. on Monday, Oberstar, Inc. will be removing partial sections of curbing and proceeding with sanitary sewer lateral replacements on Lynn Street, from Fair Avenue to Center Street.

This work is the prerequisite for the milling and overlaying for this street. This work will be done with intermediate road closures and the public is urged to use extreme caution and follow all warning signs, lane shifts, and other traffic control measures. The work is expected to last two weeks for this phase of the project.
