Three men arrested in stolen firearms case in Gogebic County

Gogebic County Sheriff's Department responded to a report of a breaking and entering in Erwin Township, Thursday. The victim of the breaking and entering reported that he had numerous guns, ammunition and other miscellaneous items stolen from his residence.

GCSD officers and members of the Gogebic Iron Area Narcotics Team (GIANT) later received additional information on the incident. After talking to the Gogebic County Prosecutor Nicholas Jacobs and the 98th District Court in Gogebic County, two search warrants were authorized to be executed in the city of Ironwood regards to the investigation.

The Gogebic/Iron Area SWAT teams was then contacted to assist GIANT in executing the search warrants.

The first search warrant was executed on an Ironwood home where officers were able to recover some of the stolen guns. Officers also seized some items related to controlled substance violations. In conclusion of that search warrant, officers arrested the homeowner for possession of stolen firearms.

The second search warrant was executed on a motel room in the city of Ironwood where officers again recovered another stolen firearm and items related to controlled substance violations. At that location, officers arrested two more individuals on charges related to the breaking and entering, and possession of stolen firearms.

The three individuals were lodged at the Gogebic County Sheriff's Office where they are still being held on bond.

Additional information on the individuals arrested and their charges will be released after arraignment.

The investigation is still ongoing and additional arrests are expected.
