New court date for man arrested in connection to meth labs in Sault Ste. Marie

CHIPPEWA COUNTY, Mich. (WLUC) - Lester King has a sentencing court date scheduled for November 12.

Nicholas Stoll has a jury trial set for Wed., July 24.

Lester King will be in trial for sentencing on Tues., July 23 at 8:30 a.m. in a Chippewa County courtroom.

Both were arrested for alleged involvement in a group of meth labs in the Sault Ste. Marie area.

Both men are charged with 8 felony counts relating to meth labs including in the presence of a minor child, with the presence of a firearm, and involving hazardous waste.

Both are also being charged with habitual offender-4th degree.

UPDATE: Lester King, 61, pleaded guilty to count ten, possession of meth. This was an added charge.

Tri-County Drug Enforcement Taskforce worked quickly on information gained about a group of meth labs in the Sault Ste. Marie area.
An investigation lead to Trident executing two search warrants the morning of Wednesday, July 11th.

Specially trained members of the Michigan State Police Emergency Support Team identified, secured, and removes all occupants from both residences.

40-year-old Nicholas Stoll of Sault Ste. Marie has been charged with 8 felony counts relating to meth labs including in the presence of a minor child, with the presence of a firearm, and involving hazardous waste. Stoll is also charged with Habitual Offender, 4th Degree.

61-year-old Lester King of Sault Ste. Marie is also charged with 8 felony counts relating to a meth lab including in the presence of a minor child, with the presence of a firearm, and involving hazardous waste. King is also charged with one count of Maintaining a drug house and Habitual Offender, 4th Degree.

A third suspect, who moved to the Sault Ste. Marie are less than one month ago, was not present at the time of the search warrants.

43-year-old Joseph Raab, originally from Florida, was arrested later in the day on Wednesday, July 11th.

Raab was charged with 9 felony counts relating to a meth lab including in the presence of a minor child, with the presence of a firearm, and involving hazardous waste. He was also charged with 3 felony weapons charges.

All three have been arraigned in Chippewa County District Court.
Trident says that these labs are very dangerous. There is risk of fire, explosion, and the chemical that are released are very toxic.

Sault Ste. Marie Police, MSP UPSET, MSP ES Team, Homeland Security Investigations HIS, Child Protective Services, Sault Ste. Marie Fire/Ambulance and Chippewa County Health Department assisted in the investigation.

The investigation is ongoing and at least one more arrest is expected.
