UPDATE: Names released of three dead in Ironwood fire

IRONWOOD, Mich. (WLUC) - UPDATE: 4:23 p.m. Feb. 23

The names of the three individuals who died in a fire on Wednesday have been released by the Ironwood Public Safety Department.

Mark Arnold Verrete, 57; Patrick James Somerville, 51; and Levi Dean Watkins, 27, all of Ironwood were fatally injured in the fire.

The Ironwood Public Safety Department extends their sincere condolences and sympathies to the surviving family members for their loss in this tragic incident.

In a collaborate effort between local, state, and federal agencies, investigators are continuing to work diligently to learn the cause of the fire.

Ironwood Public Safety says investigators recovered a third body Thursday from the scene of Wednesday morning's fire on Aurora Street.

Three other people were injured in the fire in two buildings with upper-level apartments. Investigators say those injuries are not life threatening.

Ironwood Public Safety Chief Greg Klecker says two of the three bodies have been identified, but their identities have not been released to the public. An autopsy is scheduled for the third body to determine their identity.

There are no more remaining people unaccounted for that Ironwood Public Safety is aware of.

The investigation is ongoing. Ironwood Public Safety has said the fire is suspicious.
