NEGAUNEE, Mich. (WLUC) - It was opening night tonight at Negaunee High School for their production of The Little Mermaid.
It’s an adaptation of the 1989 film of the same name. Ariel, the main character, is a mermaid who dreams to be part of the world above the sea. She eventually falls in love with a human prince.
The show was produced as a collaboration between the Negaunee High School chorus, orchestra and band classes.
“There’s lots of different kinds of people who do these shows and people who wouldn’t normally talk to each other outside of school get to know each other. I think people should come see the show because we’ve been working really hard and it’s really high energy and fun,” said Kendyl Dahlstrom, who is playing Ariel in the production.
Additional performances of the show take place Friday and Saturday at 7 p.m., with a matinee Saturday at 2 p.m. Tickets are available at Midtown Bakery in Negaunee, Snowbound Books in Marquette or the Negaunee High School office.
