ESCANABA, Mich. (WLUC) - The 9-2 Eskymos are hoping that the third time is the charm as they take on 10-1 Grand Rapids Catholic Central Cougars at noon on Saturday.

The last two trips downstate to battle the Cougars have ended in defeat for the Eskymos.

Friday the student body came out to see the team off and hope they can bring home a division 4 quarterfinal victory.

Escanaba Athletic Director Nick Nolde said that so far this year's team has been full of surprises so U.P. is hoping for one more.

"It's David versus Goliath and every time I thought our team might lose this year we've won so you never know. They're all high school kids and as they say 'That's why they play the game'."

The Eskymos defeated Alma 14-13 last weekend to advance to Saturday's game.

The game will not be live streamed by MHSAA but will be broadcast on 104.7 WYKX in the Escanaba area.
