MARQUETTE, Mich. (WLUC) - This year marks the 20th anniversary of the Superior Watershed Partnership. On Thursday night, they held a special event to celebrate.

The event was held at the Marquette Regional History Center. A special boat was commemorated as part of the event.

The boat supplies were donated to the organization, and it was built by volunteers over the past year. It's being dedicated to Dr. David Suzuki.

Suzuki is a leading Canadian environmental educator and scientist, who has been an inspiration for the organization. Suzuki has also hosted the longest-running environmental television program in Canada.

“He’s been a pioneer in the environmental field for many decades, and we have started partnering with organizations in Canada, so we thought it fitting to have Canada’s leading environmentalist come and address us and we're honored that he was willing to be our keynote,” said Carl Lindquist, Executive Director of the Superior Watershed Partnership.

Suzuki will speak to a sold out crowd at tonight’s event.
