EBEN JUNCTION, Mich. (WLUC) - Superior Central School students are heading to Chicago to watch the award-winning musical, “Hamilton.”

“Hamilton,” and American musical, written by Lin-Manuel Miranda, tells the story of Alexander Hamilton, and his influence on the founding of our country.

The musical is considered groundbreaking, using hip-hop influences to tell the story.

“The opportunity came up for me to take the kids down there, I found out through an organization called the Gilder Lehrman Institute. They provide teaching seminars and classroom resources for teachers but through grant funding they're also allowing students to go down to see the show for $10 apiece,” said Brenton Fitzpatrick, Superior Central Schools Social Studies Teacher.

1,900 students from around the country are attending a matinee at the Chicago Theater. Students also get to meet with the Chicago “Hamilton” cast before the show.
