Summer season means more traffic

MARQUETTE, Mich. (WLUC) - Despite the cool temperatures, summer is here, and that means more tourists on Marquette city streets.

The Marquette City Police warn motorists and pedestrians to slow down and be patient this summer.

Police Captain Mike Laurila says the areas to pay extra attention to are Third Street, Washington Street downtown, and along Lakeshore Boulevard.

Whether you're driving, riding, or walking, it's important to pay attention.

"Take the extra time when traveling to make sure you arrive safely to your destination. Make sure you're not putting pedestrians, cyclists, motorcyclists and what not, in harm's way," said Captain Laurila.

Captain Laurila say it's important to remember that distracted driving can result in a citation.
