KINGSFORD, Mich. (WLUC) - Students from across Michigan arrived in Kingsford Thursday night for the First Robotics District Qualifier. Teams checked in at Kingsford Middle School and put the final touches on their bots.
This is the first time the Flivvers will host the tournament, just one year after their first time competing in it.
"Here at Kingsford we really love to be the host. We love to be the catalyst for change in the U.P.,” Amanda Gibbons, a Volunteer Coordinator for the District Qualifier, said. “We love to take STEM education to the next level, that what we're about. There's nothing better than a huge robotics competition to say 'hey we're here, we're committed to STEM education and we want to lead you guys to the next step.'"
Friday’s competition is free and open to the public. Opening ceremony starts at 10:30 am.
