MARQUETTE, Mich. (WLUC) - There's still time to enter your house in the 2018 Marquette Board of Light and Power Lighting Contest.
This is the 36th year of competition with six categories ranging in display sizes. There are prizes in each category as high as $300.
The BLP says not many people have signed up for the contest so far, but expect more to come closer to the deadline. The entry deadline is December 11 at 4:30 p.m. and open to BLP customers only.
The BLP says they continue to put on the contest every year because it has become a Marquette tradition.
"It's just really fun. It's Christmas cards to the community and everybody gets excited with the lights and it's just beautiful," said Contest Coordinator Noreen Collins.
You sign up for the contest online, by phone or at the Marquette Board of Light and Power.
Judging will be held on December 12 with bus tours of the lights on December 18 and 19.
