HOUGHTON, Mich. (WLUC) - Saturday was cleaning day at Swedetown Trails in Calumet.
People headed out with rakes, shovels and leaf blowers to make sure the trails were in good condition.
Due to this past winter, club board member Gail Neufeld says the trails were filled with branches making travel difficult for people. But now that it's cleaned, she's hoping it will be better.
"It's very important to get the trails cleaned first off so people can find the trails, well-marked trails is a clean trail so they can follow them, and then also the important thing is getting the sticks off so people don't trip if they're running or so they don't pick the sticks up, and don't break their bicycles with the sticks,” she explained.
Swedetown Trails needs more volunteers to adopt and maintain trails during the summer. If interested visit their website.
