IRON MOUNTAIN, Mich. (WLUC) - The 81st annual Continental Cup in Iron Mountain had its kick-off event Thursday night at 'Business after Hours'
International athletes in town for this weekend's event, came out for a meet and greet with the community at Pine Mountain Ski Resort. Ski jumping fans had the opportunity to get autographs, and meet the athletes who will soon be flying in the air.
Food, music, and raffles filled Pine Mountain Sk iRresort. This is an exciting event for both the athletes and the fans.
"I think it's a great thing. Every year it seems like this 'Business after Hours' that we do for 'Meet the Skiers' gets bigger and bigger. It's just a great warm and fuzzy for the community and a great way to meet these people they may never have had the opportunity to meet before,” said Suzanne Larson, the executive director for the Dickinson Area Chamber of Commerce
42 skiers, from 9 different countries are taking part in the event. The ski jumps will be taking place all weekend at the Pine Mountain Ski Jump. The official first round is a practice jump on, Friday, Feb. 14 at 1 p.m. CST.
