UPDATE: Name released of 63-year-old man who died in a Marinette County crash

MARINETTE COUNTY, Wis. (WLUC) - UPDATE: Wednesday, Nov. 6, 10:54 a.m.

The Marinette County Sheriff's Office has released the name of a man who died in a single vehicle crash Tuesday in Stephenson, Wisconsin.

63-year-old Scott A. Barnhart, of Crivitz, was pronounced dead at the scene from severe head injuries.

The crash remains under investigation by the sheriff's office and county medical examiner.

According to a press release from Marinette County Sheriff's Office, a single vehicle crash in Stephenson, Wisconsin left one man dead on Wednesday afternoon.

Marinette County Dispatch received a call at 3:21 p.m. on Tuesday about a one vehicle crash on Deer Lake just south of Eagle Road in the Town of Stephenson.

The caller heard the crash happen while hunting nearby and reported the car was off the road and resting on it's roof.

A 63-year-old man of rural Crivitz was found in the wreckage and pronounced dead at the scene due to massive head injuries.

His name is being withheld at this time pending further investigations and notifying next of kin.

Initial investigation showed the vehicle was southbound on Deer Lake Road at a high speed, when it dropped off on the right shoulder, crossed over the road, going off road left and rolling over eventually coming to rest on its roof.

The victim was alone in the car.

The crash remains under investigation.
