HOUGHTON, Mich. (WLUC) - It's a short story competition being organized by the Portage Lake District Library and the Rosza Center.

With the snow falling in the Upper Peninsula the primary theme of the competition is "Winter in the U.P."

The stories should be 750 words or less, and anyone is allowed to submit their own story.

The Rosza Center is bringing in the radio show, Selected Shorts, to perform the winning stories live.

"It's pretty unique to get something like Selected Shorts to come to our community. It's a great literary event, and there are a lot of writers, poets, fiction, and non-fiction writers in our area," said local storyteller, Charli Mills.

Selected Shorts will be performing at least four of the short stories submitted on December 7. All of them will be on display in the Rosza Center lobby.
