Sheriff issues warning after snowmobile falls through ice in Munising

The Alger County Sheriff’s Office is warning of thin ice outside of Munising Bay after a snowmobile fell through the ice Tuesday morning.

The snowmobile was approximately 2 miles north of Grand Island Landing, a popular spot for fisherman to access Murray Bay and Trout Bay.

Two people were on one snowmobile when it broke through the ice.

Both individuals were able to safely make it off the ice.

According to the Alger County Undersheriff, the ice is thin in the area and snowmobilers are advised to stay off the ice.
