ALGER COUNTY, Mich. (WLUC) - Update: 6/12: Five of the six people have received new court dates

UPDATE: 3/22 - Six people were arraigned in Alger County District Court for various drug charges in relation to distributing prescription pills.
The names of those arraigned are the following:
Marty Martell- Counts 1-5 : delivery/manufacture of schedule four drug, controlled substance, Count 6 : using a computer to commit a crime
Adam Trombly- Counts 1-2 : possession of analogues
Elizabeth Steinhoff- Counts 1-3 : delivery/manufacture of schedule four drug, controlled substance, Count 4 : using a computer to commit a crime
Scott Denman- Count 1 : delivery/manufacture of a schedule four drug, Count 2 : using a computer to commit a crime
Dustin Lee- Count 1 : delivery/manufacture of a schedule four drug, Count 2 : using a computer to commit a crime
Joseph Prunick- Count 1 : delivery/manufacture of a schedule four drug, Count 2 : using a computer to commit a crime
Originally, UPSET reported there were seven people arrested in total. The seventh person has not been arrested at this time.
The investigation remains ongoing.
All suspects will be back in court for preliminary exams on April 9.
Detectives from the Upper Peninsula Substance Enforcement Team (UPSET) arrested seven people from Alger County on various drug charges related the distribution of prescription pills on Monday, March 18.
Detectives from UPSET and Homeland Security Investigations initiated the investigation in 2017 when bulk amounts of various prescription pills were seized by law enforcement as they were shipped through the United States Postal Service.
After a lengthy investigation, detectives identified several suspects in Alger County that received bulk amounts of illegal prescription pills after ordering them from foreign countries.
Detectives assigned to UPSET along with various other law enforcement agencies arrested seven people from Alger County on charges related to delivery of prescription pills and utilizing a computer to commit a crime.
All seven suspects were lodged in the Alger County Jail. The names of the suspects are being withheld pending their arraignment.
The investigation remains ongoing and additional arrests are expected.
UPSET was assisted by members from Homeland Security Investigations, Alger County Sheriff’s Department, Munising Police Department, Michigan State Police Negaunee Post, Michigan State Police Hometown Security Team, and Sault Tribal Police.
