MENOMINEE, Mich. (WLUC) - Schloegel's Bay View Restaurant in Menominee has announced it is closing its doors and will now be sold.

The restaurant made the announcement on their Facebook Page Sunday evening.

The Schloegel's brand was made famous by Tom and Pat Schloegel in Marinette in 1968, and the Menominee restaurant was built in 1978.

According to the Facebook post, Tom and Pat's son Todd had been involved in the business for over 30 years and plans to retire from the restaurant business.

"My dad & I owned the business together & when he passed away 2 years ago his shares were divided with my 3 other brothers not involved in the corporation. Unfortunately that changed the way we do business making it difficult for me to continue operating as expected. It wasn't an easy decision. Over the past 49 yrs we have employed and served some amazing people that we consider family. I wish I could personally thank all of the past and present employees and the hundreds of thousands of guest we have had the pleasure to serve"

The post also added, Schloegel wishes the best of success to the next operator and encourages continued support to the family-run business.
