MARQUETTE, Mich. (WLUC) - If the snow outside isn’t a sure enough sign of the Christmas season, you now have another way to tell. The 2019 Salvation Army Red Kettle Campaign kicked off Thursday afternoon.
Bell ringers will be outside of the local grocery stores raising money for the Salvation Army's yearly programming between now and Christmas. They'll be at the big box stores after Thanksgiving.
This year, it's easier than ever to donate, as all kettles now accept Apple Pay and Google Pay. If you've never volunteered to be a bell ringer, there's no time like the present.
“It's a great family event to just stand out for two hours, ring a bell, talk to your friends as they enter the store and support a great cause as well,” said Marquette County Salvation Army Captain Doug Winters.
Also new this year, ‘Ring for Bling.’ Every 2 hour shift spent as a bell ringer enters you in for a chance to win a gift card to Jandrons Fine Jewelry of Marquette.
