MARQUETTE, Mich. (WLUC)- The sale of the old Beacon House building in Marquette has unfortunately fallen through.
The Beacon House was originally listed for $1.5 million. That offer was accepted in September. However, the buyer experienced financial trouble finalizing a suitable bank loan. Since the original deal fell through, the price for the building has now been dropped to just over $1 million.
Beacon House C.E.O. Mary Dowling says new buyers are already interested.
“To say we were disappointed, absolutely we were. But, the good thing is we've got a great realtor, she's continued to accept inquiries about the building,” said Dowling. “She's got a list of about 12 people who have inquired about the Beacon House since we accepted the other offer. So, she's going to be very busy today.”
Fundraising efforts for the new Beacon House is still ongoing. They are trying to complete Phase 1 of the project by raising $3 million by the end of December. Construction of the new building is expected to begin next spring.
