MARQUETTE, Mich. (WLUC) - The Kraft Hockeyville celebrations have officially been kicked off for this weekend.

Saturday began with a fun run starting and ending at Lakeview Arena. Four different events were offered with a 5k run or walk, a one mile youth run, and for those not local: a virtual 5k.

After the race, there were many different activities offered such as bounce houses, raffle buckets, and food vendors. All 5k runners received a commemorative pint glass. Proceeds from this event will go to Lakeview Arena's general funds.

“So, I'm working with Friends of Lakeview. As you know, the Kraft Hockeyville celebration's happening this weekend,” said Mark Janofski, Race Director. “This is more part of the Friends of Lakeview, but this is a great celebration of hockey for Marquette and this is a great turn out here today.”

Ticket pick up for Tuesday’s big game began at the same time as the race and lasted until 2:00 p.m. Over 2,000 tickets are being given out for the Buffalo Sabres and Carolina Hurricanes game.

Ticket pick up will begin again Sunday from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the fun fair taking place at the Superior Dome.
