MARQUETTE, Mich. (WLUC) - The Marquette Food Co-op is partnering up with the United Way of Marquette County this month. When you shop at the Co-op on Washington Street all through December, cashiers will ask whether you'd like to round up with your purchase to the next dollar.
The money raised will then be donated to the United Way. Food Co-op staff say it's an easy way to help out a good local cause.
"The small amount of money can go a long way collectively if all the customers are helping out because that way we can support the programs that United Way is supporting, this is a very rigorous and competitive process and they're helping such a wide range of programs in our community," said Sarah Monte, Outreach Director at the Co-op.
The goal this year is to raise about $6,000 for the United Way. This is an annual fundraiser for the United Way through the Food Co-op.
